Accies snap up midfielder
Hamilton boss Billy Reid has completed the free transfer signing of Jim Goodwin, the SPL club have confirmed.
The 28-year-old was released by Huddersfield before the transfer window closed.
Accies manager Reid said: “I have been tracking Jim for a while and I’m delighted to add him to the squad. He gives us more strength.”
Goodwin – who can play in defence or midfield – has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at all levels.
He began his career with Celtic, where he spent three seasons, before moving to Stockport, Scunthorpe and Huddersfield, and had a spell on loan with Oldham last season.
Goodwin is set to be officially unveiled at a press conference later this week.

Murphy glad to have opened account
Daryl Murphy was relieved to make an early impact at Celtic by opening his goalscoring account for his new club.
The Irish striker converted from the penalty spot to claim the only goal of the game in last weekend’s SPL game at Motherwell.
The win allowed the Hoops to maintain their 100% start to the domestic campaign and move top of the SPL on goal difference ahead of the international break.
And Murphy has revealed how no-one else stood a chance of taking the spot-kick once the award had been given.
Speaking on Channel 67, he said: “Before the game I said to Scott Brown, ‘If we get a penalty today I am taking it and that’s it’.
“As soon as it was given, I looked straight for the ball, to see who had it.
“Thankfully Sami (Georgios Samaras) was off the pitch at the time, because I think he would have fancied it as well.
“It gives you a lift when you score early in your career at a club and I think it’s important for any striker to get off the mark as soon as they can at a new club.”
However, Murphy – who joined from Sunderland in the summer – refused to bask in the glory of his winner afterwards, despite the players being given the following day off.
He added: “I don’t think you have time to celebrate goals.
“I know we had a day off, but I am still up every morning, dropping the kids off at school, so I thought there was no point going home to go back to bed.
“I thought I might as well come in and do a bit.”
Meanwhile, manager Neil Lennon hopes his new-look side will be able to gel now that the transfer deadline has passed and he now knows exactly who he has at his disposal for the coming months.
Lennon said: “I am pretty happy. We got Anthony Stokes in on the last day of the window, so I am very pleased about that.
“I would have liked another one player, but these things are there to test you.
“We knocked on doors a few times, but were refused and there’s not a lot you can do about that.
“But that’s the window shut now and hopefully we will be able to settle things down and work with the squad – although, unfortunately at the minute, most of the squad are away on international duty.”

McDermott to dip into loan market
Reading manager Brian McDermott is set to dip back into the transfer market when the loan window reopens for Football League clubs next week.
McDermott sold top scorer Gylfi Sigurdsson to Hoffenheim on transfer deadline day in a club-record deal and quickly used some of the funds to add two defenders to his squad.
But he is keen to further bolster numbers after narrowly missing out on more.
He said: “We’ve obviously lost a fantastic player in Gylfi but it was a big deal for the club.
“And straight off the back of that we’ve brought in Ian Harte and Zurab Khizanishvili.
“We missed out on a couple of loan players too but the emergency loan window opens up next week.”

More players to come – Pompey chief
Portsmouth chief executive David Lampitt insists the club have not finished adding to their squad despite the transfer deadline passing.
Cash-strapped Pompey are so short of players they have only been able to name four substitutes so far this season.
And they came out of deadline day another man down after Tommy Smith, Marc Wilson and Marlon Pack left with Dave Kitson and Liam Lawrence joining.
But boss Steve Cotterill can still sign free agents, while the emergency loan window re-opens next week.
Lampitt told The News: “We’ve still got a couple of things on the agenda. They are not necessarily tied to the window.
“We haven’t finished and I’m sure Steve would say he is not finished shaping his squad. There are still some real gaps that we need to fill.”
