Paatelainen looking at strike pair
Kilmarnock boss Mixu Paatelainen is running the rule over trialist strikers Cedric Roussel and Basile Camerling.
Belgian striker Roussel, formerly of Coventry and Wolves, spent a week training with Dundee United three seasons ago.
Paatelainen is hoping to land Roussel, 32, on a free transfer while he is also looking at ex-Nancy frontman Basile Camerling.
The Finnish tactician is eager to bolster his attacking options after losing the likes of Alan Russell, David Fernandez, Mark Burchill and Kevin Kyle.
“Since the start of pre-season, adding a striker has been a priority,” said Paatelainen.
“We don’t have a lot of money so we’ve got to make sure it’s right.”

Bhoys make loan move for Bellamy
Celtic have opened discussions with Manchester City and Craig Bellamy over a loan switch for the out-of-favour striker.
The Wales frontman was yesterday left out of City’s squad for their Europa League qualifier against Timisoara despite there being room for two more players in the pool.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon today confirmed the club had approached City with a view to taking Bellamy back to Parkhead.
Bellamy’s exclusion has fuelled expectations that he will not be named in the club’s 25-man squad for their Barclays Premier League campaign.
The player, who spent several months on loan with Celtic in 2005, is eager to leave should that be the case and Lennon hopes City will be keen to do business with him rather than their top-flight rivals in England.
Lennon said: “When you see someone of the calibre of Craig and the fact that he’s not in the 25 and he’s looking to go out and play football, then we feel it’s something that we can’t try and miss out on.
“We’ve been speaking to his representatives and we’ve been speaking to Man City.
“How far down the line we are will be down to Craig obviously. But the advantage we have is that, one, it’s not in the Premier League and, two, he has been here before and he enjoyed his time here and made a huge impact on the game up here and has a real connection with the supporters.”

Gers and Pompey in Smith talks
Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou has confirmed talks are ongoing regarding a deal to sell Tommy Smith to Rangers.
Smith was a target for the SPL champions earlier in the summer when Pompey rejected a ‘derisory’ bid believed to be in the region of £300,000.
Rangers have now gone back in for the 30-year-old as Walter Smith seeks to bolster his attacking options before the start of the new season.
A deal for Rapid Vienna frontman Nikica Jelavic is in the pipeline and former Watford player Smith could also head to Scotland.
Andronikou told The News: “There has been dialogue and that will continue. We’ll see where it goes.”
Smith joined Pompey from Watford last summer, but has scored just once in 19 appearances during his time at Fratton Park.
He started the club’s opening day defeat at Coventry City last Saturday and has also been linked with a £1.5million move to Queens Park Rangers.

Sheridan poised for Celtic exit
Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan is poised to join CSKA Sofia while Neil Lennon has confirmed Stuart Baxter has joined as a part-time advisor.
Irish frontman Sheridan travelled to the Bulgarian capital to watch CSKA’s 1-0 derby defeat to Levski on Sunday and is thought to be ready to pen a three-year deal.
Sheridan, who has scored four SPL goals for Celtic, spent the second half of last season on loan with St Johnstone and is looking forward to joining CSKA.
“I came over to see what the club was like and whether I liked it,” explained Sheridan. “I am looking forward to being here.
“I know next to nothing about CSKA although I watched them play Fulham and Roma in Europe last year and they looked good.”
Meanwhile, Celtic’s new permanent manager Lennon has confirmed that Finland coach Baxter will now act as an aide throughout this season.
Baxter was in London on Sunday to watch the team’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in the Emirates Cup and will help the inexperienced Lennon as and when he needs advice.
“Stuart was here at the game,” said Lennon. “He was just here to watch the game and get some impressions.
“Stuart will be an advisor to me if and when I need it. It’s a part-time situation as he has a job with the Finnish Football Federation.
“The one thing I lack is experience in management. He has had a lengthy career in Scandinavia and elsewhere.
“I don’t know him well at all but he doesn’t need to be my pal. We’re just going to talk football and when we go away from home in Europe he might be able to help us.”

Saints sign Baggies frontman on loan
St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes has returned to former club West Brom to sign striker Marcus Haber on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old Canadian joined Albion from the Vancouver Whitecaps on an 18-month contract in January but he has not made a first-team appearance.
The 6ft 3in frontman has already had two loan spells, with Exeter and Vancouver, and he will see out his contract in the Scottish Premier League, although the Baggies have a one-year option on his deal.
