Luke planning to Steele up
Barnsley goalkeeper Luke Steele has backed himself to cut out the errors as his side bid to climb the Championship table.
The former Manchester United shot-stopper spilled a cross against QPR on the opening day which led to a goal then let in another soft goal in the 1-0 Carling Cup defeat to Rochdale.
The gloveman was also at fault when he leaked another goal in the Tykes 3-3 draw with Bristol City last Saturday.
“I can’t afford to make too many more mistakes because otherwise I’ll be out of the team,” Steele admitted to The Star.
“Hopefully I can make up for those mistakes during the rest of the season.
“You’d like to think that over the course of the season you’re luck evens out, I’m sure it will this season. All keepers make mistakes, but it’s how you try and respond afterwards which counts.”

Howe hails departing Pitman
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has paid tribute to Brett Pitman as he closes in on a switch to Bristol City.
The striker is expected to finalise his move on Monday after snubbing Premier League side Blackpool, bringing an end to his six-year association with the Cherries.
Howe expressed gratitude toward the 22-year-old for his service to the club, which saw him plunder 59 goals in 103 appearances.
Howe told the club’s official website: “We expect Brett to join Bristol City and we are very disappointed to lose him.
“Anyone who has watched us for the last 18 months can see what a good player and excellent finisher he is and we are going to miss him immensely.
“It’s a great opportunity for him to test himself at a higher level and we wish him all the best and I hope he goes there and carries on the form that he has shown for us. I’d like to thank him for everything that he has done for AFC Bournemouth.”

Robins swoop for Pitman
Bristol City have completed the signing of Bournemouth striker Brett Pitman for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old, who has signed a three-year deal, has brought to an end a six-year association with Bournemouth to make the step up to the Championship.
Pitman arrives with a terrific goalscoring record in the lower leagues. He netted 62 goals in 197 appearances for the Cherries, including a hat-trick in 16 minutes last weekend against a Peterborough side managed by former City boss Gary Johnson.
He could feature in a behind-closed-doors game against Aldershot on Tuesday before making his debut at Ipswich on Saturday.

Robins swoop to sign striking pair
Bristol City have signed Ipswich striker Jon Stead for an undisclosed fee and Bournemouth frontman Brett Pitman for £800,000.
The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract having agreed personal terms and passed a medical at Ashton Gate on Monday morning.
Stead could actually make his debut against Ipswich when City travel to Portman Road in the Championship on Saturday.
It is the latest footballing chapter for the 27-year-old who burst onto the scene with hometown club Huddersfield, netting 24 goals in 76 appearances.
This earned him a £1.25million move to top flight Blackburn in 2004 before he switched to Sunderland for £1.8million a year later.
He spent a loan spell at Derby before moving on to Sheffield United and then Ipswich.
He was loaned to Coventry last term but returned to Ipswich and was linked with a move to Premier League new-boys Blackpool before making Ashton Gate his new permanent home, with the deal subject to Football League clearance.
City have also completed the signing of Pitman from League One Bournemouth.

Keane: Stead’s on his way to City
Ipswich manager Roy Keane has confirmed striker Jon Stead is close to completing a move to Championship rivals Bristol City.
Stead has started the last three games for Town but has been allowed to leave so Keane can bring a new striker to the club.
Keane told the club’s official website: “I think Steady will sign for Bristol on Monday.
“The clubs have agreed a fee and he has agreed personal terms.
“He goes with our best wishes as well. He has done well for us over the last few weeks and shown a good side to him.
“I would have liked to have kept him but with Steady going out we hope to have a replacement at the club later on Monday. We are almost there and hopefully it will all be finalised.”
